In life’s valleys, staying faithful can be challenging, but it’s essential for our spiritual growth. Here are practical steps to help you remain steadfast:

  • Putting God First in the Tithe: Abram’s first act after his victory was to give a tenth of everything to Melchizedek, acknowledging that all his blessings came from God (Genesis 14:20). This act of tithing predated the Law and demonstrated Abram’s recognition of God’s sovereignty over all his possessions. When we prioritize God in our finances and other areas of life, we acknowledge that He is the source of all our blessings.

  • Putting God First in Praise: Abram lifted his hand to the “most high God, possessor of heaven and earth” (Genesis 14:22), giving God all the credit for his victory. In our lives, we should continually praise God for His goodness and provision, recognizing that every good gift comes from Him (James 1:17).

  • Being a Good Steward: Abram demonstrated good stewardship by ensuring that the goods recovered in the battle were properly distributed, making sure that God, his men, and his allies received what was due. We, too, are called to be good stewards of the resources, time, and talents God has entrusted to us.

  • Setting an Example in Leadership: Abram understood the responsibility he had as a leader. His actions were not just for himself but set an example for the young men who followed him. As Christians, we are called to be examples to others, living lives that reflect our faith and commitment to God.
